DESCRIPTION:
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
US Flag & Signal Co., Inc. is looking for full-time Industrial Sewing Machine Operators in our Portsmouth, VA facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Flags sewn in accordance with government specifications by operating industrial sewing machines.
• Reviews relevant drawings and pictures.
• Regulates machine settings
• Maintain inventory of sewing supplies and request as needed.
• Check flags for quality. Identify and report quality discrepancies when they occur.
• Monitors machine operation to detect problems, such as defective stitching, breaks in thread, or machine malfunction.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on sewing machines, such as keeping machines clean, dust free and lubricated.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping standards in the production area.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (following duties are required on all positions):
• Maintain quality service by following, and enforcing US Flag & Signal's quality system standards.
• Uphold US Flag & Signal's core values.
• Complete other duties as assigned from time to time by your manager.
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, classes or programs as requested.
• Conduct self-according to US Flag & Signal's policies/Handbook.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• One to three years related experience/training.
• Able to communicate in English.
• Able to follow production directions and perform appropriate sewing techniques as directed by the team leader.
